Y'all Have To See This...

With apologies to the folks who have already seen this on my blog, check out the best singkil I've ever seen ever:

I've never heard of the Leyte Dance Theater and man! I feel like I've missed out! They were actually in my hood earlier last year and I totally missed them! It'll be All-Singkil, All-The-Time at Casa Johnson from now until April 19 when the George Washington University's Philippine Cultural Society performs my rendition of this famous dance. Not only am I doing the choreo, but I might write original music for it as well. I'm trying to find where I can get a hold of a kulintang set. We'll see. I'll keep you all updated.

I'm very excited about this project not just because I get to see my old campus and hang out with people who were me fifteen (yikes! 15? Really?) years ago, but because my kids get to see mommy's creativity with a Filipino folk dance. Woot!
